Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, in Islamabad. Sharif underlined that the friendship between China and Pakistan is unique and multidimensional, expressing his eagerness to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin and the 80th anniversary commemoration of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. He also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to accelerating the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0 and deepening cooperation in agriculture, mining, energy, aviation, information technology, and infrastructure.
Wang Yi stressed that China remains Pakistan’s most reliable partner and strongest supporter. He noted that the two countries should strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas such as Gwadar Port, industrial zones, and high technology. Wang reaffirmed that the China-Pakistan friendship is unshakable and unbreakable, while reiterating China’s support for Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts. He added that both nations will continue advancing together on the path of common development and modernization.
