President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved an agreement on railroad construction between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice, the country’s Ministry of Transport was appointed as the authorized body responsible for the implementation of the international agreement.

The heads of Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, as well as relevant ministries and departments are obliged to ensure control over the implementation of the provisions of the international agreement after its entry into force in the prescribed manner.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China signed an agreement on cooperation in the joint promotion of the railroad project on June 6.

The agreement advances project completion. It governs collaboration between the three countries on railroad financing, building, operation, and maintenance.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov previously stated that construction on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad line will begin in October this year.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project is a strategic infrastructure project that will connect China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, creating a new overland transportation corridor between Central and East Asia.
