WENCHANG, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — The Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Wenchang City, northeastern China’s island province of Hainan, is China’s first independently designed and built green, environmentally friendly, and modern spaceport. The launch site currently operates two all-weather, multi-purpose launch pads capable of handling heavy payloads.
Wenchang also hosts China’s first commercial space launch site. Since its opening in November 2024, the launch site has successfully launched more than 90 satellites into their planned orbits.
