Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, paid an official visit to Türkiye from May 8 to 11. During the visit, Xiao led a Chinese delegation and held meetings with Turkish Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and Deputy Speaker Bekir Bozdağ, as well as with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
Xiao stated that under the strategic guidance of both countries’ leaders, China-Türkiye relations have maintained steady development, with smooth progress in various areas of cooperation. He emphasized that China is ready to work with Türkiye to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance legislative exchanges, deepen political trust, and promote the long-term development of bilateral relations.
Turkish officials expressed appreciation for China’s development achievements and highlighted the importance they place on strengthening ties with China amid the current international climate. Reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to the one-China principle, they expressed their readiness to expand high-level and legislative exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
