On May 25, the First Global Business Summit on High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation was held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The summit was organized by the Indonesian government in collaboration with international institutions such as the UN Global Compact’s “Sustainable Infrastructure for the Belt and Road Initiative to Accelerate the SDGs” action platform. More than 300 participants from governments, businesses, academia, international organizations, think tanks, and NGOs gathered to discuss how to promote more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable global economic, environmental, and social development through high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
During the summit, several Chinese and foreign companies launched nine joint initiatives and projects focusing on key areas such as green transition, science and technology education, renewable energy, rural sustainable development, and traditional medicine. Chinese technology company Xinye Technology introduced a pilot project called “Model Small Shops,” aiming to support 1,500 small businesses in China and Southeast Asia. The project promotes sustainable agriculture, employment, and livelihood improvement. The company is already running two public welfare micro-projects in Indonesia—upgrading agricultural supply stores in West Java and supporting female entrepreneurship in Jakarta. CEO Chen Pingping stated, “This project stems from our long-term attention to the social value of small businesses. By expanding into Belt and Road partner countries, we hope to help small enterprises overcome financing and resource challenges and support the achievement of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals through love and action.”
