On December 27, the opening ceremony for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Project was held in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the event, expressing his expectations for the project. Representatives from China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, along with railway workers, highlighted that Xi Jinping’s message reinforced the goals of strengthening cooperation and building a shared future for China and Central Asia.
Zhong Shenggui, an executive of the China Railway International Corporation, emphasized that the project would serve as a strategic model of cooperation among the three countries. Zhong affirmed their commitment to ensuring the necessary coordination and collaboration to realize the project as planned.
Experts involved in defining the project’s technical standards stated that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway would set a high-quality benchmark within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Workers who participated in the preparatory stages expressed their determination to bring Xi Jinping’s vision to fruition. Former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov described the project as a “lifeline,” noting that it would boost employment in the region and improve the living standards of local populations.
The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway will begin in China’s Xinjiang region, pass through Kyrgyzstan, and reach Uzbekistan. In the future, the line could extend to West Asia and South Asia, enhancing economic and social connectivity among the three nations while significantly contributing to the development of Central Asia.
Experts underline that the project will create new opportunities for trade and industry in Central Asia and strengthen regional economic integration. The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway is not just a transportation corridor but a model of long-term cooperation and development among regional countries.
