On January 16, the “World Mayors Dialogue” event kicked off in Nanning, Guangxi, with the participation of mayors and representatives from 12 cities across 7 ASEAN countries. Under the theme “Building a China-ASEAN Friendship Home: City Openness and Cooperation,” the meeting explored practical cooperation opportunities in sectors such as industry, culture, and education. During the event, Nanning and Yangon, Myanmar, signed a memorandum for the 2025-2026 friendly exchange plan, and agreements were made for 14 projects worth over 33 billion yuan.
At the conclusion of the event, the “Nanning Initiative” was released, calling for deeper city-to-city friendships, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. The importance of the “Nanning Channel” in advancing China-ASEAN cooperation was emphasized once again. City representatives highlighted the need for closer collaboration in areas such as infrastructure, logistics, digital economy, and cultural tourism, and expressed their commitment to working together towards common goals.
