Chinese CITIC Group announced on January 14, 2025, that its CITIC Daika factory in Morocco has been selected as Africa’s first “Lighthouse Factory” by the World Economic Forum. This achievement is a significant step in CITIC Group’s efforts to implement the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative, contributing to the advancement of industrialization in Africa.
CITIC Daika’s “Lighthouse Factory” in Morocco, with a production capacity of 600 million aluminum wheels and 500 million aluminum casting parts, is the largest investment project under the China-Morocco strategic partnership agreement. Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technologies are deeply integrated into every stage of the manufacturing process, improving efficiency, precision, and flexibility. Additionally, the factory focuses on environmentally friendly and low-carbon transformation, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing resource consumption. It has also become a model for green development in Africa, being the first factory in Morocco to receive the PAS 2060 carbon-neutral certification.
Building on the success of its Moroccan “Lighthouse Factory,” CITIC Daika aims to further advance China’s high-quality Belt and Road Initiative by contributing to the global automotive parts manufacturing industry. By strengthening China-Africa cooperation, CITIC will continue to support the transformation of traditional manufacturing sectors.
