China is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across roads, railways, aviation, ports, and postal services through autonomous vehicles, drones, and delivery robots. In June, the Ministry of Transport and four other departments issued an action plan aiming to foster a new wave of AI-driven infrastructure, equipment, and service models by 2030.
On the Beijing-Xiong’an Expressway, AI technologies provide real-time traffic updates, smart fog warnings, and automated ticket dispensing, while high-speed railways utilize tens of thousands of connected cameras and radar monitoring to automatically detect safety hazards. Additionally, the postal and delivery sector leverages intelligent routing, smart sorting, and thousands of autonomous delivery vehicles and drones to boost efficiency. These advancements focus on meeting public needs, improving transport safety, and driving high-quality industrial transformation.
