On June 4, a delegation of journalists from China and Central Asia visited a CKD bus factory jointly established by China’s Yutong Bus and Kazakhstan’s Kazakh Technical Company as part of a high-quality cooperation initiative under the Belt and Road framework. Located in the city of Saran in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, the factory began operations in 2021 and has an annual production capacity of 2,000 buses and 200 construction machines. Miao Yuan, the general manager of Yutong Kazakhstan, stated that the partnership not only transfers advanced technologies and production management expertise but also indirectly creates over 5,000 jobs, contributing to the development of the automotive industry in Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region.
Factory executive manager Roman Krivopalenko said, “We are proud to bring Chinese technological know-how to Kazakhstan and contribute to the development of green transportation in the region,” noting that the factory’s electric buses have gained wide recognition in the local market. Plans are underway to expand production capacity and export to other Central Asian countries beyond Kazakhstan. Saran Mayor Darin Burkeyev emphasized that such high-quality Belt and Road cooperation projects are helping the former mining city diversify its economy. Media representatives from Central Asia expressed that witnessing the production process firsthand gave them a clear understanding of the tangible results of China–Central Asia cooperation.
