Between 2020 and 2023, overseas donation efforts by the China Marrow Donor Program slowed down. Despite this, the commitment to aiding patients with blood disorders abroad remained unwavering. Every possibility was explored, and all available resources were mobilized to facilitate donations. Over the four-year period, despite various challenges, a total of 15 overseas donations were successfully carried out.
In 2024, these efforts gained momentum once again. In January, the program facilitated its first stem cell donation to a North Korean patient, marking a meaningful gift for the China-North Korea Friendship Year. In December, a stem cell donation to a Vietnamese patient will be made for the first time, reflecting the amicable ties fostered under the Belt and Road Initiative. In total, 19 overseas donations (spanning seven countries and regions) were successfully completed in 2024.
The overseas donation efforts of the China Marrow Donor Program serve as a diplomatic bridge between nations, contributing to China’s sustainable and high-quality development while supporting the construction of a shared future for humanity.
