Speaking at a press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China’s advancements in AI stem from high-level technological self-reliance and open cooperation.
Mao expressed hope that the US would refrain from making false accusations and emphasized that both nations should step up collaboration to promote the beneficial development of AI. Meanwhile, industry experts note that Washington’s accusations regarding the use of model distillation—a standard industry technique—lack factual and legal substantiation, driven instead by strategic anxiety.
