The opening ceremony of the 2025 “China Tourism Year” in Kazakhstan was held on Monday at the National Museum of Kazakhstan, with around 300 guests from both China and Kazakhstan in attendance.
The event featured speeches from Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov, both emphasizing the importance of strengthening cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
One of the highlights of the “China Tourism Year” is the launch of a special exhibition titled “Silk and the Silk Road: From China to Kazakhstan.” The exhibition is divided into three sections: “The Origin of Silk,” “The Road of Silk,” and “The Use of Silk.” It presents the historical richness of Silk Road culture, its contemporary development, and the friendship and cultural exchange between China and countries along the Silk Road.
Running until August 8, the exhibition also includes cultural performances, a traditional Hanfu costume show, and intangible cultural heritage experiences. During the opening ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between the China National Silk Museum and the National Museum of Kazakhstan.
