As of June 1, the mutual visa exemption agreement between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Uzbekistan has officially come into effect. At 07:01 a.m. this morning, flight CZ6030 from Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent smoothly landed at Ürümqi Tianshan International Airport, becoming the first direct inbound flight from Uzbekistan to benefit from the new visa-free policy.
According to the agreement, holders of valid Chinese official, service, or ordinary passports and Uzbek ordinary passport holders can enter, exit, or transit the other country without a visa for up to 30 days per visit, and up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Those who intend to stay longer or engage in activities such as work or study must still apply for the appropriate visa in advance. Authorities state that this policy will significantly facilitate travel between the two countries, enhance bilateral trade, tourism, and cultural exchange, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
