On December 5, Ministry of Commerce Spokesperson He Yadong addressed questions regarding the implementation of tasks from the fourth Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Construction Work Conference. He emphasized China’s commitment to the principles of the BRI and highlighted efforts to deepen high-quality mechanisms in the economic and trade sectors, aiming to create new opportunities for win-win development.
The spokesperson stated that more trade facilitation and investment cooperation working groups and mechanisms will be established with BRI partner countries. He noted that the role of communication and negotiation mechanisms in areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure construction will be strengthened. These efforts aim to foster closer ties between the peoples of partner countries through enhanced economic and trade connections.
Active support will be provided to expand trade, investment, and industrial cooperation with BRI partner countries. More free trade agreements and investment protection agreements will be promoted. Furthermore, He stressed the importance of deepening cooperation with partner countries in areas such as green development, digital economy, blue economy, clean energy, and green mining.
The “Digital Silk Road” e-commerce cooperation initiative will be upgraded in terms of quality and capacity. In line with this, China will actively advance its accession process to the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement (DEPA), strengthening policy exchanges and practical collaborations among all parties.
He also highlighted the development of comprehensive overseas service systems. The role of liaison and service platforms for overseas enterprises will be enhanced to help protect the legal rights of Chinese-invested enterprises abroad.
