China’s trade in services expanded steadily in the first seven months of 2026, totaling nearly 4.45 trillion yuan (about $655.8 billion)—an 8.3 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Commerce. During this period, services exports rose 17.1 percent to over 1.77 trillion yuan, while imports grew 3.2 percent to 2.67 trillion yuan, narrowing the services trade deficit.
Travel and transport services drove more than half of the overall export growth, surging 27.7 percent and 27.1 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, knowledge-intensive services reached 1.96 trillion yuan, accounting for 44.1 percent of the total trade. Backed by intensified policy efforts under the 15th Five-Year Plan, China aims to elevate the service sector’s total scale beyond 100 trillion yuan by 2030.
