China’s People’s Daily and Cambodian media outlets recently conducted a joint press tour in Cambodia to explore and report on high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. The media delegation visited several key project sites in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Stung Treng, and Kratie to observe the tangible outcomes of bilateral cooperation in areas such as healthcare, energy, and infrastructure.
The first stop was the China-Cambodia Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh, where Chen Honglin, head of the Chinese medical team, explained how traditional Chinese medicine techniques introduced to Cambodia have benefited many local patients. The delegation also toured the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, the Angkor International Airport in Siem Reap, and the Sangha II Hydropower Station in Stung Treng—the largest clean energy project in Cambodia, built by a Chinese company. Local officials emphasized that these projects have significantly contributed to Cambodia’s energy independence, tourism development, and job creation. This joint media initiative marks an important step in strengthening China-Cambodia relations under the Belt and Road framework.
