A Chinese medical team working in Cameroon provided free health services to more than 80 students and teachers at a primary school in Mbalmayo, an industrial town located about 40 kilometers from the capital Yaounde. The services included dental checkups, health counseling, and an informative session on infectious disease prevention. The team also donated school supplies to the students.
Chinese health professionals demonstrated proper hygiene practices such as handwashing and toothbrushing to the children. Stephane, one of the students, said, “I learned how diseases are transmitted and how to brush my teeth and wash my hands thanks to the Chinese doctors.” Ren Qinglan, head of the medical team, stated that this is just the beginning and that they will continue providing various free medical services to support more local residents. Since 1975, China’s Shanxi Province has sent a total of 786 medical workers to Cameroon as part of ongoing aid missions.
