Abu Dhabi, December 14 (Xinhua) — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China is ready to work with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to elevate their bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the remarks during his meeting with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Abu Dhabi. Wang noted that the UAE holds a unique position and influence in the Middle East, adding that China and the UAE share aligned development strategies, similar governance philosophies, and highly complementary economic structures. These factors, he emphasized, have made the two countries natural friends and partners.
Wang stated that over the more than four decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and the UAE have consistently demonstrated mutual respect and support. He noted that bilateral relations have withstood tests arising from changes in the international landscape and have maintained steady and sound development.
Expressing China’s willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with the UAE, Wang emphasized the importance of implementing the key consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, remaining committed to the original aspirations of diplomatic ties, deepening strategic mutual trust, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and carrying forward traditional friendship. These efforts, he said, are aimed at advancing the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Referring to the upcoming second China–Arab States Summit to be held in China next year, Wang said China looks forward to the participation of Arab leaders. He expressed confidence that, with the support of the UAE and other Arab countries, the summit would yield positive outcomes and elevate China–Arab relations to a new stage.
Sheikh Abdullah noted that over the past four decades, UAE–China relations have developed rapidly on the basis of mutual respect and trust. He highlighted fruitful cooperation across various fields and the deepening of people-to-people exchanges, describing bilateral relations as a model of cooperation.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and its strong support for China’s efforts to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity and to achieve national reunification. He also emphasized the UAE’s opposition to any foreign interference in China’s internal affairs.
The two sides further exchanged views on international and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
