Harbin, December 15 (Xinhua) — The 27th edition of Harbin Ice and Snow World, the world’s largest ice and snow theme park, is set to open on December 17 in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China, widely known as the “Ice City.”
Built on a record-breaking area of 1.2 million square meters, the park has been constructed using approximately 400,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. This year’s edition is organized under the theme “Ice and Snow, A Fairy Tale World.”
The park features three main landscape axes, a large-scale themed parade route, an outdoor performance stage, and a newly constructed 5,000-square-meter air-supported structure. Technological elements such as intelligent lighting systems and artificial intelligence–based interactive applications have also been integrated into the park’s design.
A wide range of events will be held at the park, including the opening ceremony of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, international ice sculpture competitions, snow football and ice hockey matches, as well as a New Year’s Eve concert.
Tickets are available for advance purchase through the official WeChat account of Harbin Ice and Snow World, as well as other online platforms such as Meituan and Alipay. Promotional ticket prices for adults are set at 298 yuan (approximately USD 42) and will be valid from December 17 to December 23. Thereafter, tickets will be sold at the standard price of 328 yuan.
In addition to Ice and Snow World, Harbin is also promoting two major winter attractions: the Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo, covering an area of 1.5 million square meters and featuring 260 snow sculptures, and the Ice and Snow Carnival held on the frozen Songhua River, which includes 60 ice and snow recreational projects.
