The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited foreign friends to add China to their travel list in a statement made on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks in response to recent videos, photos, and posts about China Travel trending on overseas social media. Lin mentioned that he had seen many videos with the “China Travel” hashtag, noting that these videos offer foreign friends a glimpse into China’s developing and modern cities, as well as the everyday lives of ordinary Chinese people. Some of these visitors have never been to China, while others have visited multiple times.
Lin highlighted that in recent months, China has implemented a mutual visa-free travel agreement with 26 countries, and has also introduced a unilateral visa-free policy for 38 countries, including France and Germany. Additionally, China has offered a visa-free transit policy for 54 countries and has signed mutual visa-free agreements with 157 countries and regions. On Tuesday morning, Lin announced that China had fully relaxed and improved its visa-free transit policy, extending the stay period for eligible foreign travelers from the original 72-144 hours to 240 hours, or 10 days, and adding 21 new entry and exit points. Foreign nationals entering China through the visa-free transit policy can also travel within the allowed areas across provinces.
“We invite foreign friends to add China to their travel lists, to explore China’s rich history by visiting heritage sites such as the Great Wall, experience the natural wonders like the West Lake, discover the application of cutting-edge technologies, and feel the human spirit embodied in winter dining delights,” Lin said.
