During a meeting in Cairo with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Chinese Premier Li Qiang stated that China supports Arab countries in strengthening strategic autonomy, pursuing development paths suited to their national conditions, and enhancing unity and self-reliance. Li emphasized that China has always viewed its relationship with Arab nations from a strategic perspective and firmly supports their just causes. He noted that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Arab leaders, China-Arab relations have entered their best period in history, with growing trust and expanding cooperation.
Premier Li said China is willing to deepen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on areas such as energy, trade, investment, artificial intelligence, and the digital and blue economies. He also stressed the importance of promoting people-to-people exchanges through cultural, educational, and tourism cooperation, as well as enhancing dialogue among civilizations. Li reiterated China’s readiness to coordinate more closely with Arab countries in multilateral platforms like the UN and WTO to build a more just and equitable global governance system.
Secretary-General Aboul-Gheit called China a trustworthy friend and partner of the Arab world. He reaffirmed Arab nations’ firm support for the one-China principle and praised China’s efforts under the Belt and Road Initiative and President Xi’s global development proposals. Aboul-Gheit said the Arab League is willing to deepen political trust, promote economic and cultural cooperation, and jointly implement the outcomes of the first China-Arab States Summit. He also expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support of Arab states in multilateral forums and voiced readiness to work with China to safeguard multilateralism and global peace.
