Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Tuesday met with leaders from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, who were in Nanning, the capital of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to attend the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
During his meeting with Myanmar Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Han noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations. He stressed China’s support for Myanmar’s national stability, sovereignty, and independence, highlighting the importance of cooperation in safeguarding border security and protecting Chinese personnel and projects in Myanmar. U Nyo Saw expressed Myanmar’s readiness to deepen high-quality cooperation with China under the Belt and Road Initiative.
When meeting with Lao Vice President Bounthong Chitmany, Han emphasized that bilateral ties have been advancing under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries. He noted that next year will mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and stressed the need to further strengthen the China-Laos friendship at the people-to-people level.
In his talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Vongsey Vissoth, Han said both countries would accelerate the implementation of the important consensus reached by their leaders during President Xi Jinping’s April visit to Cambodia. Vissoth described the “ironclad friendship” between Cambodia and China as unshakable and voiced Cambodia’s willingness to strengthen cooperation across various fields.
Meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, Han highlighted that this year marks both the 75th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations and the “China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.” He called for carrying forward the traditional friendship and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation. Mai Van Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to enhancing high-level exchanges and building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
