The primary reason for DeepSeek’s rising popularity is its advanced large language model that produces superior content, along with the fact that its products are available for free in Russia—unlike other AI applications. This increase in free and accessible applications is expected to lead to a decline in the user base of competing platforms.
Additionally, Russian mobile operators t2 and Yota have previously observed growing interest in DeepSeek nationwide, with data from t2 indicating that DeepSeek’s monthly user count in January was 15% higher than that of other AI applications.
