China expressed its hope that the 31st China-ASEAN Senior Officials’ Consultation, scheduled to be held in Ningbo from February 12 to 14, will advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that this important annual mechanism plays a critical role in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the foreign ministries of China and ASEAN member states.
Guo Jiakun mentioned that Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong will lead a delegation to the consultation, co-chairing with Malaysia’s ASEAN SOM Leader Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, who will serve as the rotating ASEAN chair for 2025. The consultation aims for both sides to implement key common understandings reached at the China-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting, deepen East Asian cooperation under new circumstances, and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.
Guo Jiakun emphasized, “This consultation provides a great opportunity to make significant progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and ASEAN,” urging all parties to fully leverage this platform to further strengthen their cooperation.
