The Global South Financiers Forum was held in Beijing from March 19 to 21, bringing together representatives from financial institutions, government agencies, international organizations, media, businesses, and research institutions from over 30 countries and regions. The forum focused on strengthening financial cooperation among Global South countries, exploring pathways for joint development, and enhancing integration into the global economic system.
Over the past 20 years, Global South countries have contributed 80% to global economic growth, with their share in the world economy exceeding 40%. However, rapidly changing international dynamics and increasing uncertainties call for stronger partnerships. In this context, countries of the Global South, led by China, continue to develop joint projects in infrastructure financing, digital economy, and green finance. The Global South Financiers 2025 Beijing Consensus, announced at the forum, aims to promote sustainable financial cooperation, expand access to digital financial services, and create new financial models for the green economy. As economic integration among Global South countries deepens, this cooperation is expected to make even greater contributions to the global economy.
