As global digitalization accelerates, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key driver of economic growth and social progress. In recent years, China has integrated AI technology into various sectors such as energy, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing, optimizing processes, reducing waste, and increasing productivity. These technological advancements have not only transformed traditional industries but also fueled the growth of emerging sectors.
As China continues to lead high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative, African nations are closely following this progress. Joseph Matim, Vice President of the Kenya-China Alumni Association, stated that Africa aims to strengthen cooperation with China in cutting-edge fields such as AI, humanoid robotics, and electric vehicles. Balu Demissie from Addis Ababa University highlighted that China is enhancing Africa’s capacity in green technology and innovation through knowledge-sharing and technology transfer, playing a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals.
Dennis Munene, Executive Director of the China-Africa Center at the Africa Policy Institute, emphasized that China’s integration of AI with the Belt and Road Initiative will not only benefit Africa but also accelerate development across the entire Global South.
