Kyrgyz President Zaparov, ahead of his state visit to China scheduled for February 4–7, stated that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan has made a significant contribution to deepening regional cooperation and expanding economic and trade relations by strengthening mutual trust and collaboration. During his visit to China in May 2023, he emphasized that discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping elevated bilateral relations to a new era of strategic partnership, broadening economic cooperation and laying the groundwork for enhanced cultural and regional collaboration. He specifically noted that the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, launched in December 2024, is one of the major achievements recorded under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Zaparov stressed that deepening cooperation remains a top priority in Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy and expressed confidence that China’s global development vision, supported by the “Community of Shared Destiny” and the Belt and Road Initiative, will bring new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan and the entire Central Asia region. As one of China’s largest trading and investment partners for many years, Kyrgyzstan believes that reinforcing economic cooperation, diversifying trade, and increasing joint investments—particularly in agriculture, industry, ecology, and energy—are essential. Moreover, he pointed out that China’s high-quality development and its open policy, combined with technological innovations in fields such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence, have positioned China at the forefront of the global arena. Zaparov expressed his hope that his upcoming state visit will lead to productive discussions with President Xi Jinping and concretize multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries.
