Prime Minister Li Qiang emphasized the deep traditional friendship between China and Samoa. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has always developed in a healthy and stable manner, with cooperation in all fields bringing tangible benefits to both peoples. The Chinese side expressed its willingness to work with Samoa to implement the important shared views of the two leaders, deepen political trust, firmly support each other’s core interests, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, and continuously enrich the content of the China-Samoa comprehensive strategic partnership.
Li Qiang highlighted China’s willingness to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Samoa, guide high-quality “Belt and Road” cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, and expand cooperation in areas such as agriculture, fisheries, and clean energy. He emphasized that both sides should further facilitate people-to-people exchanges, continually expand cooperation in cultural areas such as tourism, health, education, and youth, and encourage the transmission of China-Samoa friendship to future generations.
As both China and Samoa are countries in the “Global South,” China emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and coordination in multilateral areas with Samoa. They aim to jointly tackle global challenges such as climate change, promote multipolarity in the world, advance inclusive economic globalization, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Fiame, the Samoa Prime Minister, stated that China’s development serves as an important example for developing countries. Samoa firmly adheres to the “One China” principle and expressed its intention to strengthen high-level exchanges with China to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year. Samoa aims to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and agriculture under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, increase cultural and local-level exchanges, and jointly address global challenges such as climate change.
