Macron pinned a video featuring key moments from his trip to the top of his official X profile. In the post, he expressed his appreciation for the hospitality shown by the Chinese people during his visits to Beijing and Chengdu.
The video includes scenes from Macron’s engagements in both cities, with particular emphasis on his interaction with students at Sichuan University. The enthusiastic reception, applause, and warm gestures from Chinese students were prominently featured and echoed in Macron’s accompanying remarks.
Macron’s visit attracted widespread attention across Chinese social media platforms. On Xiaohongshu, the hashtag “#Macron” surpassed 130 million views, while on Sina Weibo it recorded more than 400 million views. The hashtag “Macron visits Sichuan University” generated approximately 47 million views. Several videos circulating online described Macron as being greeted “like a rock star.”
The significant public interest in Macron’s visit also drew attention from Western media outlets. Reuters characterized his reception at Sichuan University as creating “a rock star effect,” while the French newspaper Le Monde noted that Macron resembled “a rock star more than a politician amid the enthusiastic cheers of young students.” France 24 and AFP likewise featured segments highlighting moments from the campus visit.
