The China-Europe freight train service continues to transform global trade, with an increasing number of companies using it to integrate into the global supply chain. Xi’an, located in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, serves as a major hub for these trains. Geely’s smart automobile manufacturing plant in Xi’an produced 142,000 vehicles worth 15.7 billion yuan (about 2.2 billion U.S. dollars) in the first five months of 2025. This production supported the growth of 21 parts suppliers, contributing to the development of a regional automotive ecosystem.
The Xi’an-based Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group has also greatly benefited from the train service. The company has established agricultural logistics and processing zones in both Kazakhstan and China, becoming the first Shaanxi enterprise to invest overseas since 2015. Thanks to the China-Europe freight trains, Kazakh grain and oil products are quickly reaching the Chinese market. At Aiju’s healthy life experience center in Xi’an, products such as Central Asian honey, biscuits, ice cream, and apple juice are showcased. In the first half of 2025, Aiju imported nearly 100,000 tons of feed wheat via this train service. The newly opened terminal connecting Xi’an and Almaty in Kazakhstan upgraded the connection from “point-to-point” to “hub-to-hub,” marking a new phase in trade logistics.
