Prior to the Shanghai International Auto Show, Dongfeng signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Universal Motors Agencies (UMA). With this agreement, Saudi Arabia will become a central hub for Dongfeng’s expansion into the Middle East and a key strategic point for reaching the Gulf countries. This development is seen as a significant step in the company’s globalization strategy under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Founded in 1947, UMA is one of the oldest automotive distributors in the Middle East. The first collaboration between Dongfeng and UMA began in 2020. With the new agreement, the partnership between the two sides will be further strengthened, securing the strategic supply of around 10,000 vehicles. Dongfeng will also provide comprehensive solutions to UMA in areas such as product innovation, service support, and marketing, and will develop exclusive models tailored to Saudi consumers.
Dongfeng Motor continues its global expansion under the Belt and Road Initiative. In the first quarter of 2025, the company’s independent passenger car exports increased by 63%, while its new energy vehicle exports grew by 138%. Present in more than 100 countries, including Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia, Dongfeng aims to further strengthen its presence in the global market with high-quality, eco-friendly, and smart products.
