Singapore and China will deepen their cooperation in the fields of digitalization and sustainability, building on existing joint projects and policy innovations, said Singapore’s Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, during her visit to Chongqing, southwest China. The statement was released Wednesday by Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI).
Teo noted that both countries will support their companies in seizing new opportunities in emerging sectors such as digitalization and sustainability.
“The CCI remains an important platform in positioning Singapore and Chongqing as twin hubs that drive deeper and broader region-to-region connectivity between Southeast Asia and Western China,” Teo said during her visit, which took place from Monday to Tuesday.
Her trip launched a series of bilateral engagements, including a connectivity, trade, and finance conference, a Chongqing culture and heritage showcase in Singapore, and the upcoming “Experience Singapore Week” in Chongqing, the release stated.
Launched in 2015, the CCI focuses on four key sectors: financial services, air transportation, logistics, and information and communication technology. It is the third intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, following the Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province and the Tianjin Eco-city in Tianjin Municipality.
