China accelerated the commercialization process of technology patents during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, reaching a contract volume exceeding 1 trillion yuan.
During China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), a special campaign was launched to utilize technology-related patents in the market. During this period, the total value of technology-related patent contracts nationwide exceeded 1 trillion yuan.
Over the past five years, a comprehensive analysis of 1,349,000 patents was conducted at more than 2,700 colleges and research institutions across China, and intensive efforts were made to utilize these patents in businesses. As a result, the share of the added value of patent-intensive industries in the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose from 11.97 percent in 2020 to 13.38 percent in 2024.
