Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Kyrgyz President Zaparov, who is on a state visit to China. Xi Jinping emphasized the long-standing, trust-based and friendly relationship between China and Kyrgyzstan, and stated that the two countries aim to further deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership under the Belt and Road Initiative.
During the meeting, Xi Jinping noted that both sides should develop their economic, diplomatic, and cultural ties through high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road framework. He mentioned that China is committed to strengthening regional integration with Kyrgyzstan by enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure. Xi Jinping also highlighted that strategic projects—including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway and the modernization of existing border checkpoints—will contribute to making transportation and trade between the two countries more efficient.
Following the meeting, the two presidents jointly signed a “Joint Statement on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the New Era,” along with several cooperation agreements covering diplomacy, economy, trade, agriculture, and culture. President Zaparov conveyed his best New Year wishes to Xi Jinping and the Chinese people, expressing his eagerness to learn from China’s modernization achievements and exemplary experiences on the international stage. He also reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s continued support for China on issues concerning Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong, and expressed his expectations for further strengthening the construction of a community of shared destiny and international cooperation.
