Young Entrepreneur Mehmet Nemo Türker from the Republic of Türkiye has made Shenzhen, the technological hub of southern China, both his home and the center of his entrepreneurial ventures. Nemo has founded several companies focusing on research and development (R&D) in energy-related products, including battery cells and energy storage solutions.
Born in 1990, Nemo has always been deeply interested in electronic products. During his high school years, he demonstrated his technical skills by developing a social media website and identifying a security vulnerability in the school’s system. As a result, the school entrusted him with managing its website and even provided him with a private office. Seeking broader horizons, Nemo left his university in Türkiye to pursue education abroad, choosing Shenzhen, one of China’s leading tech centers. “Nemo means ‘nobody’ in Latin, and in the field of technological innovation, I consider myself a nobody. However, I aspire to seize the opportunities offered by China’s development and start from scratch,” said the young entrepreneur, humorously reflecting on the meaning of his name.
Nemo’s entrepreneurial journey began with a desire to help a disabled friend. One of his friends became a high paraplegic (paralyzed from the neck down) at the age of 18 due to a diving accident and could only move his neck. Nemo began searching for devices to help his friend but encountered limited solutions worldwide. During this quest, he met many others with similar disabilities who longed to reintegrate into society but lacked the necessary tools. Shenzhen’s globally renowned electronics market, Huaqiangbei, provided the answer he was searching for. “Facial recognition systems were too expensive. While visiting Huaqiangbei, I saw a demonstration of a motion-sensing gaming console and had an epiphany: why not use sensor technology?” Nemo recalled. He subsequently combined sensors with ordinary glasses, and after extensive development and refinement, launched the Glassouse series. This innovative device enables individuals who cannot use a mouse or keyboard to independently control smartphones and computers.
In Shenzhen, Nemo founded companies like EnnoPro Group, focusing on energy product R&D. Alongside his R&D team, he continuously improved his products, eventually attracting the attention of Sony Group and successfully selling a patent. Focusing on hybrid vehicle batteries and supported by the mature industrial chain in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Nemo’s company is steadily increasing its global market share.
“Türkiye is my homeland, and China is my second home. I provide my Glassouse products for free to those in need in both countries. I hope that one day, a ‘nobody’ like me can become ‘somebody’ who contributes to society,” Nemo expressed, sharing his hopes for the future.
