The China Chamber of Commerce to Africa (CCCA) was officially launched on April 28, 2025, in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The chamber aims to expand cooperation between China and Africa and contribute to building a China-Africa community with a shared future. With 15 founding members from a wide range of sectors—including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, energy, and healthcare—the CCCA is expected to grow further in both traditional and emerging industries.
Hu Changchun, Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union, stated during the launch event that the new chamber will serve as a bridge promoting shared development between China, Africa, and the broader Global South. “The chamber will create stronger synergies for China-Africa economic cooperation, strengthen our friendship, and, with more members onboard, further contribute to the development of trade and economic relations,” Hu said.
According to the Chinese Mission, Chinese companies have built approximately 100,000 km of roads, 10,000 km of railways, 1,000 bridges, and 100 ports across Africa, generating over 1 million jobs. Moussa Mohamed Omar, Deputy Chief of Staff of the African Union Commission, described the establishment of the CCCA as a symbol of the strategic China-Africa partnership based on mutual respect and tangible outcomes. Wu Jiuyi, Secretary-General of the CCCA, invited more Chinese companies to join the chamber and work together with African partners for shared prosperity.
