China and Tajikistan are geographically close and share a common destiny. In recent years, the relationship between the two countries has consistently developed in a healthy and stable manner. In July 2024, the two countries’ leaders decided to elevate their relationship to a new level of comprehensive strategic cooperation, committing to creating a China-Tajikistan community for mutual benefit and solidarity.
Guzel Maetkinova, Director of the Geopolitical Research Center at Russia-Tajikistan Slav University, recently stated in an interview that Tajikistan was one of the first countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative. Maetkinova emphasized that the cooperation between Tajikistan and China is a sign of the close ties between Central Asia and China. Within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, China provides strong support to the modernization processes of Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan.
