Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, from September 12 to 13 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that Xi will join other leaders to chart a new course for the high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation and pool the collective strength of the Global South.

Over the past two decades, BRICS has evolved into a major cooperation platform for emerging markets and developing countries, expanding to 11 member countries and 10 partner countries. Representing nearly half of the world’s population, around 30 percent of the global economy, and one-fifth of global trade, BRICS continues to advance practical cooperation—such as through the New Development Bank and the New Industrial Revolution innovation center in Xiamen—while acting as a vanguard for global governance reform.
