On the morning of December 10, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with leaders of international economic organizations who had come to China to attend the “1+10” Dialogue Meeting in Beijing. Xi Jinping took a commemorative photo with the leaders and expressed his gratitude for their long-term support for China’s modernization efforts. Xi Jinping stated that the world is currently undergoing rapid progress in significant transformations and has entered a new period of turbulence and change. He emphasized that China would work with international economic organizations to promote multilateralism, support the development of Global South countries, and establish an inclusive global economic order.
New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala praised China’s economic achievements and expressed optimism about its future development. They highlighted China’s remarkable success in poverty alleviation, its leadership in new productivity sectors, and its people-centered development approach, which they deemed both successful and viable. The international leaders recognized China as a major driver of global economic growth and a steadfast advocate of multilateralism. They also underscored China’s efforts to deepen reforms, expand openness, and achieve high-quality development. Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative and other global initiatives were lauded as demonstrations of China’s commitment to assuming the responsibilities of a major power.
Xi introduced China’s economic progress, stating that after more than 40 years of rapid development, the country has entered a stage of high-quality growth and contributes about 30% to global economic growth. He affirmed China’s dedication to an open and inclusive development model and its intention to further expand openness, offering more opportunities to countries worldwide. Moreover, Xi emphasized the need for international economic organizations to participate in global governance reforms and to establish a more equitable and inclusive system. He reiterated China’s commitment to its policy of openness and strengthening global cooperation.
Xi affirmed that China would continue to act as a responsible power, highlighting that the Belt and Road Initiative serves as a vital platform for peaceful development, mutual benefit, and shared prosperity.
